<p>《釋名》曰：冢，腫也。像山頂之高者腫起也。墓，孝子思慕之處也。丘陵像其形也。</p>

||

<p>《書》曰：武王克商，封比干之墓。</p>

||
|
||

<p>又曰：樗里子卒，葬渭南章台之東。曰：「後百歲，當有天子之宮夾我墓。」至漢興，長樂宮在其東，未央宮在其西，武庫正直其墓。</p>

<p>又曰：嚴延年，東海下邳人。爲河南太守，母來適見報囚，因大驚，謂延年曰：「天道神明，人不可獨殺。我不意當老見壯子被刑戮也。行矣，爲汝東歸掃除墓地耳。」遂去，歸郡，見昆弟宗人，復爲言之。後歲餘，果敗。東海莫不賢其母。</p>

<p>又曰：莽奏貶傅太后號爲定陶王母丁姬。莽復言，恭王母、丁姬不臣妾。至葬渭陵，冢高與元帝山齊。諸發恭王母及丁姬冢，取其璽綬消滅，徙恭王母歸定陶，葬恭王冢次，而葬丁姬復其故。太后以爲旣已之事，不須復發。莽固爭之，後詔曰：「因改故棺爲致椁，作冢，祠以太牢。謁者護。」旣發傅太后冢，崩壓殺數百人。開丁姬椁，火出四五丈，吏卒以水沃滅，乃得入。燒燔椁中器物。開傅後棺，臭聞數里。公卿在位皆阿莽旨，入錢帛，遣子弟及諸生四夷凡十餘萬人操持作具，助將作掘平恭王母、丁姬冢。二旬間皆平。莽又周棘其處，以爲世戒云。時有群燕數千，銜土投丁姬穿中。</p>

<p>又曰：張賀爲掖庭令。及宣帝即位，賀已死，子又早亡。上追思賀恩，報其冢恩德侯，置守冢二百家。</p>

<p>又曰：原涉自以先人墳墓儉約，非孝也。乃大治冢舍，周閤重門。初，武帝時，京兆曹氏葬茂陵，伐其道，爲京兆阡。涉慕之西，買地開道，立署曰「南陽阡」。人不肯從，謂之「原氏阡」。</p>

<p>又曰：祭肜字次孫。早孤，以至孝稱。值天下亂，野無烟火。而祭肜獨在冢側，每賊過，見其尚幼而有志節，奇而哀之。</p>
